Don't Expect Shiny Gold Seals or Red Ribbons on the NY Apostille
One of the related services of notarizations is the apostille that is used for many foreign-bound documents originating in NY. Many people are expecting some grandiose document with red ribbons and gold seals that other countries use to authenticate notarizations or other legalizations. NY recently changed to the low-budget blue printed seal (see left image) that looks like you could make it at a local Kinkos. I once got woken up by some lawyer in Israel who was certain it was a fraudulent document as it was nothing like what they had seen in the past (the more impressive gold seal of several years ago). Maybe Cuomo can find some money left in the budget to bring the glory years back and make the NY apostille a more impressive document.
